WATCH: Did Victor Wembanyama Just Drop the Greatest Single-Game Highlight Reel in NBA History?
As someone who absolutely hates the current state of the NBA and considers myself a basketball purist, it takes a lot to truly catch my attention. That being said, I happened to come across Victor Wembanyama’s performance against Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks.
Listen, I know it’s just a regular season game, but let me tell you something—I have never seen anything like this in my life. I thought Kevin Durant was a unicorn, and then out of nowhere, this dude Wemby shows up. I mean, you can’t even make a player like him in the NBA2K video game, like what on earth is actually going on here?

San Antonio Spurs superstar Victor Wembanyama continues to make history, and Friday night was just another chapter in the Wemby Experience. The 7’3″ alien dropped a casual 30-piece in a 144-118 beatdown over the Milwaukee Bucks, putting up numbers that have only been seen once before in NBA history.
Wemby Joins Elite Company
Victor Wembanyama became just the second player ever—joining Kristaps Porziņģis—to record 30 points, 10 rebounds, 5 blocks, and 5 three-pointers in multiple regular-season games. Just absurd. The guy is literally rewriting the record books in real-time.
Here’s what Wemby’s final stat line looked like:
- 30 points
- 14 rebounds
- 6 blocks
- 5 three-pointers (on 11 attempts)
- 31 minutes of destruction
The Heavyweight “Freak-Off”
This game had everything—Wemby sending Giannis’ shots into another dimension, Giannis coming back with a monster dunk, and the two going at it like prime heavyweights. It was intense. Giannis finished with 35 points, 14 boards, and 6 assists, but let’s be real—Wemby outplayed him on both ends.
Is it safe to call this a “freak-off”?
Anyways, Milwaukee actually had control early, with Wemby struggling in the first quarter (1-for-4, two points). But even then, he already had three blocks against Giannis. The second quarter? Different story. Wemby got rolling, dropped 10 points, and had the Spurs within one at halftime.
Second Half Takeover
The third quarter is where the floodgates opened. Wemby went off for 14 points, completely taking over and leading San Antonio to a 14-point lead. The Bucks had no answers. Giannis tried to keep Milwaukee in it, but Wemby made it clear—this was his game. He sat for most of the fourth after securing the win, but the damage was already done.
More History for Wemby
With this performance, Wembanyama now holds the NBA record for most games with 5 threes and 5 blocks. Oh, and did I mention he just became the youngest center to make an All-Star team since Shaq? Yeah, this dude is unreal.
At this point, the only question left is: How long before we start putting Wemby in the MVP conversation?
This is Bittersweet for me…
As much as I love watching Wemby take over the league, this one stings a little. As a Sixers fan and a proud member of the Joel Embiid is the Best Center on the Planet (when healthy) fan club, it’s tough seeing another generational big man rise up and start breaking records left and right. Embiid has dominated for years, and now here comes this 7’3″ alien doing things we’ve never seen before. It’s impossible not to be impressed, but man, I’d rather be writing about Embiid putting up these numbers in a Sixers win instead of Wemby cooking the Bucks.
At the end of the day, though, Wemby is must-watch basketball, and the NBA is better when the bigs are running the show. Just gotta hope JoJo comes back healthy and ready to remind everyone who really runs this league.
