WATCH: Jameis Winston pitches himself to Saquon Barkley, gets a hilariously honest response
Jameis Winston might not have a team right now, but that didn’t stop him from doing a little on-the-spot job hunting during Super Bowl Opening Night.
While reporters surrounded Saquon Barkley for questions, one voice stood out from the crowd—Winston himself. And rather than asking about the game, he cut straight to the chase with a very personal inquiry:
- “I’m a free agent, I really don’t got no job. Who should sign me in free agency?”
- Without missing a beat, Barkley fired back:
- “I think New York needs a quarterback right now.”

I really hope Saquon’s response stung the hearts and souls of Giants fans everywhere but it’s hard to argue against it. Barkley obviously isn’t wrong—the Giants absolutely need a quarterback. After the midseason dumping of Daniel Jones (which was about two years overdue), they’re desperate for a solution under center.
Is Jameis Winston that guy? Highly doubtful.
Winston has spent the last few years as the most entertaining backup in football, delivering a perfect blend of chaotic energy, head-scratching interceptions, and absolute gems in postgame interviews.
That’s great for content, but not exactly what a rebuilding team needs at QB1.
If the Giants want a bridge quarterback, there are probably better options out there (Kirk Cousins). If they want a disaster artist who will throw for 400 yards and four picks in a single game, then yeah, Winston might be their guy.
Jameis Winston Needs to Come to Philly
If we’re talking about ideal landing spots, forget the Giants. The Eagles should sign Winston as their backup QB immediately.
✔️ Jalen Hurts’ backup spot is wide open (Goodbye Kenny Pickett)
✔️ Philly would love Winston’s energy—he’s the kind of guy who thrives in this city.
✔️ Every Jameis Winston postgame interview would be an instant classic.
Jameis Winston is a national treasure, and the NFL is better when he’s in the mix. Whether he’s starting somewhere, backing up a franchise QB, or just walking around media day making people laugh, Jameis Winston is must-watch content.

If New York doesn’t scoop him up, Philly should do the right thing and bring him in. The Jameis Winston QB2 Era in Philly needs to happen.
