Jameis Winston turned Super Bowl Opening Night into ‘Eat a W’ comedy hour
If the NFL was looking for entertainment during Super Bowl media night, they nailed it by sending Jameis Winston as a correspondent.
The Cleveland Browns backup quarterback, known for his hilariously unfiltered interviews, didn’t disappoint. He stole the show by embracing the meme that has followed him for years—getting players to “Eat a W.”
And yes, he had Eagles and Chiefs stars playing along.
Jameis Winston’s ‘W’ Giveaway Takes Over Super Bowl Media Night
Jameis Winston came prepared, handing out “W” cookies to players, reviving his infamous “Eat a W” moment from 2017. The approach was simple. After asking a question, he asked players and coaches if they would kindly “catch a W” for him.
Some Eagles and Chiefs players played along. Others? Not so much.
Jalen Hurts dropped the “W” but honestly, that looked like a Jameis Winston pass from the regular season. It was high and wide and if a defensive back was behind Hurts, it undoubtedly would have been another interception from Winston.
“That’s why you play quarterback.” – Winston, instantly delivering a classic one-liner.
Jordan Mailata Questioned the origins of the cookie.
“Australian black market. They were selling them.”
And then there was DeVonta Smith, Winston’s fellow Heisman brother. Instead of just handing over a “W,” Winston hit him with a question about his favorite color. Smitty, clearly confused and trying to keep his composure told Jameis that his favorite color was pink so naturally there were a few follow up questions.
“DeVonta, we know we here for the Super Bowl, baby. But the question that we all wanna know the answer to is, ‘What’s your favorite color?’”
“Run away from the pink toes. My wife’s favorite color is pink toes. She loves them pink toenails.”
“I appreciate you, my brother. Make sure you eat that.”
Jameis Winston: The Hero Super Bowl Week Needed
With all the tension surrounding Super Bowl week, leave it to Jameis Winston to bring some much-needed levity. He wasn’t just entertaining—he was electric. His mix of confidence, humor, and sheer unpredictability made him the most watchable person at media night—even more than some of the players actually competing in the game.
The NFL needs to make this a yearly thing. Whether he’s playing or not, Winston should be a permanent Super Bowl correspondent.
