Eagles’ Jalyx Hunt and Rob McElhenney team up for charity after Super Bowl fine
Eagles’ Jalyx Hunt might have just pulled off the best spin move of his young career — and it didn’t even happen on the field.
The Eagles rookie linebacker was fined by the NFL for his Super Bowl sack celebration, a bow-and-arrow gesture that, let’s be honest, hardly warranted a penalty. He wasn’t taunting Patrick Mahomes, he wasn’t doing anything over the top — just a simple motion off to the side. But the No Fun League struck again.
Enter Philly legend and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia creator Rob McElhenney, who stepped up and offered to cover the fine. Hunt, however, had a better idea: Instead of paying the NFL, why not put that money toward a good cause?
Eagles’ Super Bowl star turns a fine into a fundraiser
Jalyx Hunt directed fans toward a fundraiser supporting students from Boys’ Latin of Philadelphia High School, helping them attend college tours. Thanks to the viral buzz surrounding his classy move, donations started rolling in, and as of now, more than $13,000 of the $20,000 goal has been raised.
The fundraiser is designed to give 40 students an opportunity to visit multiple college campuses, covering travel, lodging, and food expenses. It’s a chance to provide these young men with firsthand inspiration—something that could change their futures forever.
On March 12, the organization behind the effort, BWC, will not only present the fundraiser’s final donations but also provide free haircuts for Boys’ Latin students ahead of their Mother & Son Dance.
Hunt’s response to the fine is exactly the kind of thing that makes Eagles players — and Philly athletes in general — different. It’s not just about what happens on the field; it’s about how these guys show up for the community.
While the NFL continues to police harmless celebrations, Philly fans have once again turned a bad call into something positive. If you want to contribute, you can check out the fundraiser and help more students get the chance to see what’s possible for their futures.
