WATCH: Eagles 3rd rounder Jalyx Hunt had an incredible draft phone call with GM Howie Roseman
Houston Christian University EDGE Jalyx Hunt officially became a Philadelphia Eagle in the third round of the NFL Draft. Based on the footage from within the Birds’ War Room, not only is the team excited to get him in the building, but he and his family are absolutely ecstatic to be heading to Philly.
Jalyx Hunt hit Eagles GM Howie Roseman with a “What’s up Big Pimpin’?'” and proceeded to be completely drowned out by his family going nuts:
Safe to say they were hyped for this call 😂@jalyx_hunt | #FlyEaglesFly pic.twitter.com/8BHwNOpu2Y

Some would say Hunt going in the third round was a surprise, and I’m definitely one of them. I would never call myself a draft expert – I know enough to be dangerous – but I’d never even heard of the guy or the program he’s coming from.
Even so, it’s hard not to be excited for the kid to come to Philly after a call like that. The dude is getting mobbed by his loved ones and is still asking for the playbook. He’s absolutely locked in.
There’s a term for guys like that in the industry, and it’s handed out lightly. Hunt is a Football Guy through and through. Plus, just based on this phone call alone, it’s likely he’s going to bring much-needed
Call me crazy, but I love Howie going CB, CB, and EDGE in the first three rounds. We’ve backed up the Brinks truck for every meaningful offensive starter, rightfully so, and our defense was hot garbage last year. So this is exactly what we needed.
You can get some more analysis on this pick from our actual draft analyst and fellow paisan Matt “Leadoff” Martellucci here. Hunt shares many similarities with Haason Reddick, so he’ll be an interesting prospect to watch.
Welcome to Philly, Jalyx.
