Eagles Notes: A.J. Brown shares his thoughts on new OC Kevin Patullo
The Philadelphia Eagles will employ their fourth offensive coordinator of the Nick Sirianni era next season, promoting Kevin Patullo to replace Kellen Moore.
While the Eagles didn’t conduct a thorough search for their new play-caller, WR A.J. Brown fully supports the team’s decision to promote Patullo, calling it a “great hire” in an interview on NFL Network’s The Insiders.
Brown also emphasized the importance of continuous improvement as the reigning Super Bowl champions aim for back-to-back titles.
“For our fans, they need to understand everything has to change,” Brown said, per Nick Shook of NFL.com.
“I know we just won, but it has to change. We have to get better, and we have to do things different. But I truly feel like it’s a great hire; he already has been involved in almost everything. Him, Kellen [Moore] and Nick [Sirianni] basically called the plays already.
“So, it’s a great hire and he’s already familiar with us. We have a great relationship, and he knows what we need to work on because he’s been there, and he’s been there for a while, and like I said, he’s already been a part of all the situations and the conversations and everything. So, I think it’s a great hire.”
The Eagles found themselves in need of a new OC after Kellen Moore departed for a head coaching opportunity with the New Orleans Saints.
Given Patullo’s experience — having joined Sirianni’s staff in 2021 — his promotion to OC was a logical move.
Both Brown and Patullo seem to share a common vision for the offense’s progression.
During Super Bowl week, Patullo spoke about the necessity of adapting and improving, a sentiment Brown echoed.
“Around the league, the offenses are kind of evolving every year and so as a coach, that’s your job,” Patullo said, per Dave Spadaro for the Eagles’ website. “You have to evolve. You have to study other people and take what you like and past experiences and go from there.”
The Eagles’ passing attack struggled at times, particularly in the latter half of the season. Brown even voiced his concerns after a narrow 22-16 victory over the Carolina Panthers in Week 14.

The unit came together down the stretch.
Jalen Hurts delivered a stellar Super Bowl performance — completing 17 of 22 passes for 221 yards and two touchdowns, one each to Brown and DeVonta Smith — in a dominant 40-22 win over the Chiefs.
Looking ahead to 2025, the Eagles’ core offensive talent remains largely intact, giving Patullo plenty of firepower at his disposal.
Maintaining success means continuing to evolve. The challenge now is to refine and elevate the offense even further in pursuit of another championship.
