Eagles Offseason: Howie Roseman says team will make ‘concerted effort’ to re-sign Zack Baun

The NFL Scouting Combine is about to get underway, which means we’ll hear from the Eagles brass throughout the week.

On Tuesday, we heard from both Howie Roseman and Nick Sirianni for the first time post-Super Bowl. Howie, of course, got a ton of questions regarding his offseason plan. Among them was Zach Baun’s pending free agent status and how Roseman plans to address it come March.

Howie continues by saying, “We didn’t do any deals during the season, which probably could have prevented some of these problems, but we just didn’t feel like the timing was right.”

I think it’s pretty obvious that re-signing Baun is priority number one for the Eagles. It may seem odd given Howie’s track record with the linebacker position, but he’s never been one to be stuck in his ways. If anything, he’s been one of the most progressive general managers in the NFL. Just last offseason they gave a hefty contract to a running back — something none of us thought Roseman would ever do.

Coming off such an electric season, bringing Baun back is a no-brainer. He’s still only 28 years old and his development took a major leap once he played under Vic Fangio.

Bring Baun back and I’ll be happy.
