Report: Eagles releasing DB James Bradberry, designated as post-June 1 cut

After releasing Darius Slay yesterday, the Eagles are moving on from another veteran cornerback.

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Eagles have informed James Bradberry that he will be released with a post-June 1 designation.

This move isn’t unexpected. The Eagles had hoped to part ways with Bradberry earlier, but his Achilles injury last season prevented any potential trade opportunities.

By designating his release for June 1, the Eagles will free up $2.1M in cap space starting on that date, according to Over The Cap. However, they will incur $3.1M in dead money this year and $7.7M in 2026.

Bradberry put together an All-Pro season in 2022 that ended with a controversial holding penalty in Super Bowl LVII. The following season was nothing short of a disaster for Bradberry, giving up a career-high 11 touchdown passes and a 114.3 passer rating when targeted.

Although Bradberry didn’t see the field last year, he was extremely valuable to the young DBs behind the scenes en route to a Super Bowl title.

“I’m glad I got to experience the Philadelphia Eagles fanbase,” Bradberry said. “Greatest fanbase in the world. I’m glad I got to experience the highs and the lows of being a part of the Philadelphia Eagles. And I’m gonna always cherish these moments that I have. I’m just thankful that it ended with a Super Bowl ring.”
