It’s happening. After years of fans begging, pleading, and borderline rioting, the Sixers are finally bringing back the Iverson-era black uniforms next season.

For too long, the 76ers’ brass acted like the black jerseys from the early 2000s didn’t exist. Former team president Chris Heck openly hated them, calling them “ridiculous” and swearing they’d never return.

Instead, they sent Ben Simmons to slaughter and rolled out the Boathouse Row jerseys as a half-hearted attempt at compromise.

The fans didn’t want a compromise. They wanted the real thing.

Burn all of the 76ers City Edition jerseys immediately

These jerseys define an entire era of basketball here in Philly. The Crossover. The Stepover. The Finals. It’s what an entire generation of Sixers fans grew up with and as we all know, things haven’t really worked out in our favor ever since.

Fortunately, the 76ers regime isn’t fighting this anymore. Not that they have much of a choice given the current state of the franchise, but regardless, we can still chalk this up as making the right move and listening to the fans.

Love them or hate them, they’re part of Sixers history—and for one glorious season, it looks like we’ll get to see them back where they belong.
