NFL Free Agency: Four NFC teams interested in Eagles CB Isaiah Rodgers

To kick off their offseason, the Eagles handed big contracts to Saquon Barkley and Zack Baun, ensuring their foundational stars remain in Philadelphia.

With pending free agents Josh Sweat and Milton Williams likely to sign elsewhere, retaining CB Isaiah Rodgers could be the next priority for GM Howie Roseman.

According to Aaron Wilson, Rodgers is expected to draw strong interest in free agency with the Panthers, Buccaneers, Giants, and Cowboys already in the mix.

Per Mike Kaye of The Charlotte Observer, Rodgers is viewed as a backup plan for the Panthers, who may target him as a No. 2 corner or nickel option if they don’t re-sign Michael Jackson.

Although the Eagles haven’t ruled out bringing back veteran CB Darius Slay, they’d prefer to get younger on defense. If re-signed, Rodgers would likely compete with Kelee Ringo for the starting outside job opposite Quinyon Mitchell.

Rodgers served as Philadelphia’s primary backup CB last season, playing in 420 snaps between the regular season and playoffs. He finished with 26 tackles, four pass breakups, a forced fumble, and allowed just 13 catches on 28 targets in coverage.

Given Rodgers’ public desire to stay in Philadelphia, the Eagles may be able to keep him on a discount. We’ll see what the market holds for him when legal tampering begins on Monday at noon ET.
