Eagles’ Lane Johnson is recruiting a future Hall of Fame pass rusher to Philly

While Howie Roseman does most of the wheeling and dealing for the Eagles, their players also do their fair share of recruitment on social media.

Following the news of Von Miller’s release by the Buffalo Bills, Lane Johnson wasted no time trying to sway Miller to come to Philadelphia.

Lane Johnson clearly wants Miller on the Eagles

Von Miller is obviously one of the best to ever do it at his position — his accolades speak for themselves. Even in this late stage of his career where he’s bounced around a bit, Miller has still put up decent numbers as a rotational pass rusher. Last season at age 35, he recorded six sacks.

He’s certainly not elite anymore, but the Eagles wouldn’t need him to be. He’d be a situational pass rusher, much like Brandon Graham has been for the past few years. BG also probably plays a pretty big role on whether Von Miller comes to Philly. If he decides to play another year, bringing Miller in wouldn’t make much sense. But if he calls it quits, the Eagles will have a void to fill.

Personally, I think the Eagles could do better. Not only is Miller going to be 36 next season, he was just suspended for a domestic violence case two years ago. I’m not really keen on bringing those types of guys to Philly — regardless of their football legacy.

Even if they were to bring Miller in on a one-year deal, expect Howie to still target pass rushers in the draft and throughout free agency. As we all know, Howie loves his pass rushers.
