Report: Eagles expected to shop Dallas Goedert this offseason; hoping for at least a 4th-round pick

According to ESPN’s Josina Anderson, the Philadelphia Eagles are shopping starting tight end Dallas Goedert this offseason.

The hope is to get at least a fourth-round pick in return for the tight end.

Trying to trade Goedert was always in the cards for this offseason. At 30 years old and heading into the final year of his current contract, moving on from him now makes sense.

Goedert has always been a reliable tight end, but he’s never reached the elite heights many fans envisioned for him. He appeared in just 10 games last season, hauling in 42 receptions for 496 yards and two touchdowns.

Health is the main concern with Goedert. When he’s healthy, he’s a borderline great tight end — like we saw in the postseason. He hasn’t played a full season since his rookie year and now that he’s entering his age 30 season, it’s unlikely that the injuries will slow down.

If/when Goedert is traded, the Eagles have a few options to replace him. They could roll with Grant Calcaterra, who posted decent numbers while filling in for Goedert this past season. He finished the year with 24 catches for 298 yards and a touchdown. Or, they could try to find his heir apparent through the NFL Draft. Only time will tell.

With the legal tampering period set to begin Monday, we’ll probably get a verdict on the Dallas Goedert trade market sooner rather than later.
