Report: Eagles keeping tabs on Pro Bowl pass rusher
Championship teams build around elite talent. That’s a philosophy the Eagles have embraced, and one the Bengals seem hesitant to follow when it comes to Trey Hendrickson.
Fresh off another Super Bowl victory, Philadelphia has lost some key players, most notably on defense. Nevertheless, they’re always in the mix for impact players, and Hendrickson — who has been granted permission to seek a trade — is reportedly on their radar.
Eagles Keeping a Close Eye on Hendrickson
NFL reporter Cam Marino notes that the Eagles are “keeping an eye” on Hendrickson, though the extent of their interest remains uncertain. The defensive end has been dominant in recent years, posting 39.5 sacks over the past three seasons, yet Cincinnati appears willing to part ways.

The Bengals are reportedly seeking a first-round pick for Hendrickson, a price that only a handful of teams might consider. With the Eagles selecting at the very end of Round 1, they could be in a unique position to make a move without sacrificing top-tier draft capital.
NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe reports Cincinnati is looking for “a first-round pick and more,” but teams seem content to wait and see if the price comes down. That patience could work in the Eagles’ favor.
How Hendrickson Fits in Philly
Hendrickson would bolster an already formidable Eagles defensive front. His high-motor, pass-rushing ability fits well within Vic Fangio’s defensive scheme, and he’d add another layer of pressure on opposing quarterbacks.
Of course, adding him isn’t just about draft capital — it’s also about finances. Hendrickson’s contract runs through 2025, carrying cap hits exceeding $15 million per season. Philadelphia would need to weigh whether his impact justifies the cost within their long-term salary structure.
Howie Roseman has made it clear that he’s going to shed salary in order to keep his core players under contract. Therefore, I’m not sure if Hendrickson truly fits. He’ll be 31 entering next season, carrying a hefty price tag with him. A trade would more than likely also signal a contract extension, something I’m not sure the Eagles are willing to do for an aging pass rusher.
Howie Roseman and the Eagles’ front office are always monitoring potential opportunities. If Hendrickson’s price becomes more reasonable, Philadelphia could swoop in to bolster their defense yet again.
Regardless of what happens, the Eagles remain one of the league’s most proactive teams when it comes to roster construction. Whether Hendrickson ends up in midnight green or not, expect Philadelphia to stay aggressive in pursuit of another Lombardi Trophy.
