Tik Toker congratulates Angel Reese on milestone, then proceeds to trash the Unrivaled league
Social media is undefeated when it comes to giving us hilarious backhanded compliments, and this latest TikTok moment might just take the cake. A TikToker (myself) recently posted a video congratulating Angel Reese on winning Defensive Player of the Year in the Unrivaled League—but couldn’t resist throwing some shade at the league itself.
“Unrivaled” Because There’s No Competition?
In the video, I started off with what seemed like genuine praise for Angel Reese, acknowledging her dominant defense and impact on the court. But then, in true hater fashion, he pivots to roasting the Unrivaled League, saying it’s called “Unrivaled” because, well… there’s literally no competition since nobody watches it.
Charity League: Angel Reese and the WNBA want more money but where’s it coming from? >>
And listen, I get it. The Unrivaled League is still in its early stages, trying to carve out a spot in the sports world. But the internet is ruthless, and when a league is struggling to pull viewership, people are going to let the jokes fly. The comment section was flooded with mixed reactions—some defending Reese and the league’s potential, others piling on with their own creative slander.

Let’s be real—Caitlin Clark is the face of women’s basketball right now, and she’s not playing in the Unrivaled League. That alone tells you everything you need to know. The biggest star in the game chose the WNBA over this startup league, and it’s hard to take “Unrivaled” seriously when the best player isn’t even involved.
Caitlin Clark’s Absence Says It All
Aside from Clark, the only real mainstream buzz around the WNBA lately has been Sabrina Ionescu lighting it up from deep and giving Steph Curry a run for his money in the three-point contest. That’s it. If Caitlin Clark wasn’t carrying the WNBA, there’s a good chance a lot of casual fans wouldn’t be paying attention at all. She’s single-handedly carrying the sport’s relevance right now, and her decision to skip the Unrivaled League just makes it look even more irrelevant.
