Eagles officially become Brazil’s NFL team through Global Markets Program

The Eagles are spreading their wings once again — this time, all the way to Brazil. In a major step forward for their international outreach, the NFL announced that Philadelphia has officially been granted marketing rights in Brazil through the league’s Global Markets Program (GMP).

Eagles Secure Rights in Brazil Through NFL’s Global Markets Program

Introduced in 2022, the GMP allows NFL franchises to engage with international audiences through localized marketing, youth programs, commercial partnerships, and fan-driven events. The Birds were early participants in the initiative, originally securing rights in Australia, New Zealand, and Ghana. Now, they’ll join the Miami Dolphins, New England Patriots, and Detroit Lions as the fourth NFL team with access to Brazil.

This move feels more like a natural progression than a new venture. Philadelphia played a major role in the NFL’s historic first game in South America, opening the 2024 season in São Paulo against the Green Bay Packers. That game, held at Arena Corinthians, brought the Eagles face-to-face with their growing Brazilian fanbase.

But for the Eagles, this isn’t just about building a brand — it’s about building relationships.

Building Bonds Beyond the Field

Chairman and CEO Jeffrey Lurie emphasized the importance of deepening existing connections in Brazil, noting:

“We are thrilled to welcome Brazil to our growing family of international territories… We now look forward to establishing an even deeper connection in Brazil for years to come.”

That connection has already taken root off the field. The Eagles Autism Foundation, one of the organization’s leading philanthropic arms, extended its efforts into Brazil last season, awarding a $400,000 pilot grant to support autism research and care in the country. The foundation also hosted a roundtable discussion focused on the current state of autism care in Brazil, showcasing a long-term commitment to making a difference.

A Personal Connection: Tanner McKee’s Time in Brazil

The Eagles’ ties to Brazil aren’t just organizational — they’re personal, too. Quarterback Tanner McKee spent nearly two years in the country on a mission trip prior to attending Stanford. His fluency in Portuguese and firsthand experience with Brazilian culture only add to the team’s authenticity and outreach potential.

What’s Next for Eagles Fans in Brazil?

With the new GMP designation, the Eagles will now be able to host fan watch parties, launch NFL Flag football initiatives, and deliver immersive experiences for Brazilian fans. The team’s international playbook continues to expand, and Brazil is shaping up to be a major chapter in the story.

As Lurie put it:

“NFL fandom has no boundaries… The touchpoints we have created… will continue to strengthen the bond we share with Eagles fans domestically and abroad.”

From Ghana to São Paulo, and everywhere in between, the Eagles are proving that Philadelphia pride isn’t confined to the city limits — it’s going global.
