Eagles nearly landed Cowboys’ new QB Joe Milton — would have been an instant Philly fan favorite
Let’s be honest—unless you’re the Chiefs, Eagles, Bills, Ravens, Bengals, Commanders, Texans, or maybe a few other teams I’m forgetting, you should be doing everything in your power to lock down a franchise quarterback. The Dallas Cowboys finally did something right by looking to replace Dak Prescott… who, let’s face it, just isn’t a good quarterback.

And for some strange reason, those rats that root for that football team have given him a new nickname, that they stole from the Eagles.

Look, Jalen Hurts is without a doubt the franchise quarterback of the Philadelphia Eagles. He’s a Super Bowl champion, and SB MVP. My love for Jalen will never go away. But, my guy Joe Milton was on the trade block, and apparently our birds were linked to him. Unfortunately the Cowboys were the ones who walked away with him.
The New England Patriots shipped Joe Milton and a seventh-rounder for a fifth-round pick. That’s a bag a chips, folks. For a guy who was literally the strongest-armed QB in last year’s draft and actually flashed real potential in limited reps? That’s a scratch-off ticket I would have loved to have in my back pocket.
Which is most likely the biggest reason why the Eagles weren’t able to get a Bazooka Joe trade done. It’s reported that Joe Milton wants to compete for a starting job, which I can’t blame him for and obviously has no shot of that happening with Jalen Hurts at the helm here in Philly.

For some context, I’m a Tennessee Vols fan when it comes to College Football. I had the privilege of watching Joe Milton launch absolute piss missiles 70 yards downfield on a regular basis. The guy is a must-watch athlete every time he steps on the field—and it makes me sick to my stomach that he’s going to be rocking that ugly star on his helmet now.
The Sad Truth: Joe Milton has a way better shot of winning the starting gig in Dallas
Apparently, Milton wanted out of New England because he saw the writing on the wall: Drake Maye’s the guy, Josh Dobbs is the backup, and he wasn’t getting a fair shot. Respect. Dude wants to compete. But let’s be real—like I said, he wasn’t beating out Jalen in Philly either. That said, I still would’ve loved him here. Let the guy battle it out with DTR. Best case, he’s a backup with insane potential. Worst case, he’s a practice squad cannon who makes training camp fun as hell.
For those of you who have never seen Bazooka Joe play, I’ve attached an absolutely insane scramble play from just last year, that was eventually negated due to a penalty, but still extremely impressive nonetheless.
Joe Milton had one of the wildest throws of the season on a snap that was ultimately called back.

More than ok to watch him do crazy shit like this for a late-round pick swap. pic.twitter.com/7XRGxadkVr
Yeah, If I’m Dak Prescott I am sweating bullets right now. Joe Milton is gunning for that starting spot and Cowboys training camp all of a sudden became must watch.
With that said, Joe Milton could’ve been a fan favorite in Philly. Instead, I will be rooting for him to win the starting job on the Cowboys over Dak Prescott; until he throes three picks against us in a blowout loss, of course.
