Eagles predicted to find Milton Williams replacement through 2025 NFL Draft
The Eagles head into the 2025 NFL Draft with yet another championship banner hanging at Lincoln Financial Field—but that doesn’t mean the roster is without needs.
One of the biggest departures this offseason came when defensive tackle Milton Williams signed with the New England Patriots in free agency. Now, Philadelphia may be looking to the next wave of young talent to shore up its defensive line rotation, potentially with its first-round pick.
Eagles Target Defensive Line Help in Latest Mock Draft
In a recent mock draft from Sports Illustrated’s Gilberto Manzano, the Eagles are projected to take Ole Miss defensive tackle Walter Nolen with the 32nd overall selection. The move would align with general manager Howie Roseman’s well-documented tendency to prioritize the trenches on both sides of the ball.
“GM Howie Roseman rarely hesitates to stock up on players for the defensive line,” Manzano wrote. “Nolen takes over for the departed Milton Williams to possibly form a dominant tandem with Jalen Carter. Nolen was inconsistent at times in college, but he has the skill set to develop into a stout playmaker. Philly knows how to develop defensive linemen.”

There’s certainly logic behind the pick. Nolen, a former five-star recruit, possesses rare athleticism for a player his size and would benefit from joining a defensive front loaded with talent, including Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis, and Moro Ojomo. Even with a championship roster, Roseman knows that long-term success is built in the trenches—and depth is always in demand.
Other Options on the Board for the Eagles
While Nolen could be a natural fit, some draft analysts believe the Eagles might have better prospects fall into their lap. Alabama linebacker Jihaad Campbell is one name being floated as a potential value pick, especially with Philadelphia’s ongoing search for a long-term solution at linebacker.
There’s also the possibility that the Eagles could trade out of the first round entirely—a strategy that has served Roseman well in the past. If Philadelphia sees a chance to accumulate more picks or position itself better for Day 2 talent, expect Roseman to explore every option.

Whether it’s Nolen, Campbell, or another rising star, one thing is clear: the Eagles are unlikely to let a key defensive hole linger for long. The team’s success under Roseman has largely been driven by smart drafting, especially when it comes to the defensive line. Replacing Milton Williams won’t be easy, but with a deep class of interior defenders and a front office that thrives in April, Philadelphia is well-positioned to make the right call.
All eyes will be on the Eagles when the 2025 NFL Draft begins on Thursday, April 24.
