Mike Trout got robbed by an Astros Fan after making an incredible catch in foul territory
Well, that’s one way to make a souvenir grab. In the second inning of Saturday’s game in Houston, Mike Trout tracked a towering foul ball off the bat of Yainer Diaz into the corner in right field.
It looked like Trout was about to make one of those smooth, gliding catches he’s made a thousand times before — until an Astros fan reached up and snatched the ball right out of Trout’s glove like it was the last brisket sandwich at Minute Maid Park.

Quick Side Note: That’s a vintage Mike Trout catch right there. For the life of me, I can’t figure out why Phillies fans were so opposed on making a move for the greatest baseball player to ever walk planet earth (when healthy).
Seriously, the fan used two hands. Full extension. Ripped it straight from Trout’s mitt like he was playing tug-of-war with a major leaguer.
Even crazier? The umpire ruled it a simple foul ball. Not fan interference. Why? Because Trout technically reached into the stands — and when you do that, the fans have legal squatter’s rights on anything that floats their way. Trout was heated. He pleaded his case, gestured at the fan who was clearly apologetic (more on that below) and rightfully argued but no dice.
Karma showed up immediately, though. On the very next pitch, Diaz flied out harmlessly. Ball don’t lie. Still, the scene was wild — and eerily similar to what happened to Mookie Betts last year in the World Series when a couple of Yankee fans yanked a ball from his glove and got banned from MLB stadiums for their efforts.
Baseball is better with a healthy Mike Trout
I would be foolish to only leave a quick side note on Mike Trout and not stress the importance of him to the game of baseball. The batting average is a bit low (.212) but Trout has six home runs and 14 RBI with a .894 OPS over 52 at-bats this season. We should all be praying he stays healthy so we can all enjoy one of the greatest talents in the history of mankind play baseball.

The only thing more disrespectful than stealing from Trout’s glove was that he still didn’t get the call. The man deserves better.
This particular fan didn’t stick around to watch the end of the game. According to Chandler Rome of The Athletic, security gave him the boot not long after the whole ordeal. That boot however, appears to be a trip to the tunnel to speak with Mike Trout.
After the game, Trout, being the man that he is, met with the Astros fan in and his son in the tunnel. All good, all around.
