Emmitt Smith is sick of hearing ‘Go Birds’ everywhere he goes
Emmitt Smith was once the face of everything Eagles fans hated. For over a decade, the Cowboys legend tormented Philly defenses, racked up rushing yards by the truckload, and helped Dallas hoist three Lombardi trophies. Just the sight of that No. 22 jersey was enough to make you sick.
But now? The tables have turned — and Emmitt Smith clearly can’t handle it.

On a recent appearance with 96.7 The Ticket in Dallas, Smith went full old-man-yells-at-cloud mode. He ranted about how the Eagles have become too cocky, too loud, and too omnipresent with that one phrase he apparently hears everywhere he goes: “Go Birds.”

“I’m sick of hearing it,” Smith said. “Everywhere I go I hear ‘Go Birds.’”
Good.
Because after watching Smith and the Cowboys dominate for years, Eagles fans have earned the right to let it fly. This isn’t the 1990s anymore — Philly is in the middle of its own golden era with two championships and three Super Bowl trips in the last eight seasons. Meanwhile, Dallas hasn’t even appeared in a conference title game since the Clinton administration. Emmitt might not like it, but it’s the truth.
The glory days are long gone, Emmitt
Let’s be real. Cowboys fans love to talk about how many rings they’ve got — but they say it like they didn’t happen before the internet existed. Emmitt Smith’s dominance is undeniable, but the fact he’s now resorting to whining about hearing “Go Birds” in public is peak Cowboys energy in 2025.
While the Eagles are building rosters that consistently contend, Dallas fans are stuck in a cycle of preseason hype, regular-season delusion, and postseason heartbreak. And now even their legends are bitter about it.
Philly flipped the script, and it’s driving Dallas nuts
Smith went on to say the Cowboys should be contending for Super Bowls every decade. That’s cute. But the reality is, success doesn’t come from entitlement — it comes from front offices that know how to build, quarterbacks that actually show up in January, and fanbases that don’t fold the minute things get tough.
Emmitt Smith had his time. He wrecked us. But now? This is Philly’s era. And if he’s “sick” of hearing “Go Birds,” he should put some ear muffs on — because we’re just getting started.
Go Birds.
