Phillies fans are furious Rob Thomson didn’t yell at umpire after horrible JT Realmuto strike call
Phillies fans aren’t happy today and it’s not hard to see why.
The Phils dropped their first game against the Giants 10-4, making it their fourth loss in the past five games. During the contest, we saw arguably the worst strike call any umpire has ever administered. It was so bad that even the cool, calm, and collected JT Realmuto freaked out about it.
How did Rob Thomson handle it? By standing in the dugout and staring blankly at the field.
Someone check the Phillies manager’s pulse to see if he’s even alive

At this point in the game, with the Phillies grasping on to their last opportunity to claw back into it, you should probably get your ass out there and yell at the ump. If JT is losing his mind over it, as the manager, you should be losing it too.
Scrolling through the timeline this morning, it seems like Phillies fans are more pissed at Thomson for not doing anything than the actual call. That’s how we are — if you’re not going to win the game, at least show some fight out there. Thomson’s players were, but he didn’t seem to care all that much.
We can talk about the way Thomson constructs his lineups, his philosophy on when to go to the bullpen, but this is the type of stuff that really drives Phillies fans crazy. Say whatever you want about it, that’s just the way we are.
The Phils will have a chance to redeem themselves tonight for Game 2 of their series with San Francisco.
