Adam Schefter forced to confirm that the Eagles aren’t trading AJ Brown after Philly Sports Talk Radio made up trade rumors for content
In the least surprising news of the week, Adam Schefter had to come out and say AJ Brown is not being traded. Why? Because apparently Philly Sports Talk Radio have run out of actual things to talk about.
Let’s just start here: Of course the Eagles aren’t trading AJ Brown. You don’t ship off a top-five wide receiver, a core piece of your offense, a guy who literally just signed a 3-year, $96 million extension last April, because a Boston radio host said something vague and spicy on air.

But alas, we live in a world where a sports station in Boston (shocker) claimed the Eagles are “seriously considering” trading AJ to the Patriots for the No. 4 overall pick to draft hometown linebacker Abdul Carter. And then 94WIP couldn’t help themselves — they went full conspiracy, launching Twitter polls, hyping trade packages, and pretending this was even remotely feasible.
It was insulting to AJ Brown, the Eagles, and most importantly, the fanbase. I really don’t understand 94.1 WIP does it. It’s beyond frustrating and nothing ever changes because the “rage clicks” keep on coming and that’s exactly what the station wanted in the first place, while anyone with half of a brain knew damn well it was complete nonsense from the start.
Les Bowen calls out 94WIP for making up stories and talking about nonsense
I mean, come on. Let’s run the numbers for just a second.
If the Eagles traded AJ Brown right now, it would hit their cap with a $90 million dead cap charge. Ninety. Million. Dollars. That’s not a typo. That’s not something you can even click through on Madden without your console catching fire.
This isn’t fantasy football. This is how front offices work. And if you think Howie Roseman — the cap space wizard himself — is just going to light the books on fire mid-April to send our best wideout to Boston, you deserve a timeout from Twitter.
So what’s really going on?
Yes, AJ Brown was frustrated at times last season. Yes, he exchanged words with Sirianni during the Super Bowl (as if the entire fan base didn’t also want to slap Sirianni by that point). And yes, he posted a video with another team’s jersey because, guess what? AJ Brown loves to stir the pot. The guy’s an elite receiver and a high-level troll. That’s just part of the package.
But trading him? Not happening.
Adam Schefter made it super clear in his NFL Draft intel piece that dropped on Monday: the Eagles are totally keeping Brown, no trades happening before, during, or after the draft.
“Contrary to internet speculation, the Eagles are not trading AJ Brown.”
Boom. Done. This isn’t happening before, during, or after the draft. No sneaky Patriots deal. No emotional exit.
No 94WIP victory lap. Just AJ Brown, still in midnight green, ready to run it back in 2025.
The reality is AJ didn’t have his best year stat-wise — 1,079 yards, 7 TDs — but let’s not forget, defenses keyed on him all year and Philly leaned heavily on Saquon Barkley down the stretch. The production dip isn’t about decline. It’s about balance.
So go ahead and throw away those fake trade graphics and ridiculous headlines and segments all over Philly Sports Talk Radio last week. The only jersey AJ Brown’s putting on in 2025 is the one you already own.
