Report: Eagles decline fifth-year option on WR Jahan Dotson
As expected, the Eagles are not picking WR Jahan Dotson’s fifth-year option.
Dotson now heads into a contract year and is scheduled to enter free agency following the 2025 season.
According to Over The Cap, Dotson’s option was projected to be worth $16.8 million, fully guaranteed. While Dotson filled his role as the low-option WR3 in Philadelphia’s run-heavy offense, his production doesn’t warrant that salary.
The Eagles acquired Dotson and a 2025 fifth-round pick in a trade with Washington last August for a third-round pick and two seventh-round picks.
Although he finished the regular season with just 216 receiving yards, Dotson delivered in key moments throughout the year. He also contributed to the Eagles’ Super Bowl victory over Kansas City, catching three passes for 42 yards.
The third receiver in Sirianni’s offense will always have a limited role, given that Saquon Barkley, AJ Brown, and DeVonta Smith will command the majority of the touches. If Dallas Goedert is eventually traded, however, more opportunities could open up for Dotson next season.
