Eagles sign massive 340-pound Rutgers OT as undrafted free agent

The Eagles are rolling the dice on size, length, and raw power with their latest undrafted free agent signing — bringing in Rutgers offensive tackle Hollin Pierce following the 2025 NFL Draft.

Pierce’s story isn’t the typical five-star recruit pipeline. The Trenton, New Jersey native arrived at Rutgers as a walk-on, battled through early weight issues, and eventually anchored the Scarlet Knights’ offensive line for 50 consecutive starts. His growth was undeniable. By the time he wrapped up his college career, Pierce had developed into one of the Big Ten’s most durable and reliable tackles.

At 6’8” and over 340 pounds, Pierce is a mountain of a man, and he uses every inch of that frame to his advantage. Last season alone, he logged 919 out of 943 possible snaps, allowing just one sack and drawing only four penalties across more than 3,100 career snaps, according to PFF. His sheer size makes him a nightmare for bull rushers, and he’s a load to get around once he gets his hands on defenders.

Of course, the flip side is there are areas that need refinement. Pierce can struggle against twitchier, bendy edge rushers who know how to counter inside. His punch timing is still a work in progress, and quicker defenders at the NFL level could give him trouble early on.

That’s where Jeff Stoutland comes in.

The Eagles’ legendary offensive line coach has made a career out of molding raw but talented linemen into dependable starters. With Pierce’s physical foundation — rare size, length, and functional strength — there’s serious upside if Stoutland can fine-tune his footwork and hand placement. He’s a true developmental tackle who could become a force at right tackle if given the proper seasoning.

Hollin Pierce is a massive project, but under the Eagles’ system and with Stoutland’s guidance, he might just be one of those undrafted gems Philly is famous for finding.
