Eagles tap in to Australian Rugby market again signing potential EDGE prospect

The Eagles have already struck gold once, so why not dip into the Australian Rugby seen again?

With the wave of undrafted free agents joining the Birds this week, one guy to keep a close eye on is Carsen Patu, a 6-foot-1, 243 pound defensive end prospect.

Here’s a look at former rugby player Carsen Patu, who will be attending Eagles rookie minicamp and has trained at EDGE and LB, per @LaurieHoresh.

Obviously, this guy looks like a freak. Not quite on the level of Jordan Mailata, but Patu definitely has the toughness required to play in the NFL.

Patu hasn’t officially been signed just yet. He was extended an invitation to the Birds’ rookie minicamp this weekend as a tryout player. If all goes well, he’ll be brought in for training camp and be given an opportunity to shine in the preseason.
