97.5 The Fanatic posts new on-air job days after axing Tyrone Johnson
It’s cruel world we live in, especially over at 97.5 The Fanatic. Just days after letting Tyrone Johnson walk, they’ve released job postings on their website looking for a new on-air host.
What the hell is going on at 97.5 The Fanatic?
You’d think a media company as large as Beasley would have had someone lined up to fill Johnson’s shoes. Promote from within, breath of fresh air from outside the company, something. But no, they’re just looking for anyone at this point.
It’s a pretty sad state of affairs. Our friends over at Crossing Broad have done a great job documenting all the turnover at the station, so I won’t steal their thunder. Just take a look at all of the names they’ve let go over the past five years or so:
- Tyrone Johnson
- Mike Missanelli
- Natalie Egenolf
- Hunter Brody
- Jen Scordo
- Marc Farzetta
- Devon Givens
- Pat Egan
- Jamie Lynch
- Anthony Gargano
- Bob Cooney
- Sam Wilson
- Tyler Zulli
- Tom Alvord
- Eric Camille
- Joe Bell
- Chuck Damico
A handful of their departures, including Hunter Brody and other names not listed like Jon Marks and Rob Ellis, have just gone to 94WIP. There are some young faces in the 97.5 The Fanatic ecosystem, like Ray Dunne and form Liberty Line contributor Sylvanna Kelleher. Still, it doesn’t look like the station is interested in giving those fresh faces a promotion.
Instead, they want someone to apply through Indeed or directly through their website. If you want to take a crack at it, you can apply here. But be warned, you’ll probably get laid off within the first 1-2 years, especially if you become recognizable and gain a following. That’s the 97.5 The Fanatic recipe.
