Howie Roseman lays out Eagles offseason master plan following free agency & the NFL Draft
As we all know here in Philadelphia, Howie Roseman isn’t playing checkers—he’s playing 4D chess with the Eagles’ future.
Speaking with Adam Schein on SiriusXM’s Mad Dog Sports Radio this week, Roseman went deep on Philly’s offseason moves and the long-term vision for this squad. And no, this isn’t your classic “run it back one last time” with an aging roster clinging to relevance. This is a reload, not a rebuild.
Howie Roseman on Eagles offseason plan
"This isn't like we're just putting the band back together to make one last run."#Eagles GM Howie Roseman tells @AdamSchein about lessons he learned from the 2017 Super Bowl win, and Philly being the hunted heading into the new season.

Translation? Howie’s not trying to squeeze one more Super Bowl push out of a locker room, like he did the year after the Birds won their first Super Bowl. His plan his to build a dynasty.

Retooling the Defense
Let’s be real: the defense certainly lost some pieces. Several starters left in free agency to get massive contracts due to the impact of being on the Super Bowl winning team.
But Howie wasted no time restocking the war chest. The first five picks in the 2025 NFL Draft were all on the defensive side of the ball, headlined by first-round linebacker Jihaad Campbell and second-round safety Andrew Mukuba. That’s certainly not a coincidence.
Lining Up for the Future Payday
You want to know what real long-term planning looks like? It’s setting yourself up to extend Jalen Carter, Nolan Smith, and the two absolute stud cornerbacks they drafted last year.
Jalen Carter might just reset the entire interior defensive line market after 2025. Nolan Smith? If he keeps his second-half production rolling into next season, he’s going to cost a bag too.
And by 2026? Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean will be lining up for their turn at the table. Howie knows what he’s doing — get them now while they’re cheap, develop them in Fangio’s system, and cash in when the time is right.
“We feel like we’ve got an opportunity here to continue to build our core players and keep our core guys together,” Roseman said. “We have a lot of [draft] picks next year already. … By the same token, I see the attitude and the energy [for this season]. We understand 2025 is a new year, and we haven’t won a game yet.”
Championship DNA
While most of the this blog we talked about all the moving parts, let’s not forget what is still in place. this roster still has Super Bowl DNA. From the coaching staff, the quarterback, the offensive line, the receivers, Saquon Barkley, need I say more? I
It’s just silly to act like the Eagles had some major roster blowup this offseason. When that couldn’t be further from the truth. Just a few moving parts, that needed to be replaced.
Howie’s always thinking three moves ahead. And with the NFC still very much wide open, don’t be surprised to see the Eagles in the Super Bowl hunt for the next five seasons. The window has opened due to the greatness of Howie Roseman.
