How the Timberwolves are built to beat the Thunder

Everyone’s so obsessed with the Thunder’s youth movement and how “ahead of schedule” they are. That’s cute. But let’s be real — the Timberwolves are an actual problem, and they’re a nightmare matchup for OKC in the Western Conference Finals.

First off, the Wolves can match OKC’s depth — something the Nuggets flat-out couldn’t do. Minnesota’s bench shows up, their rotations make sense, and they’ve got dudes who know their roles. There’s no Jamal Murray hobbling around or Denver bench guys disappearing into the void. These Wolves are deep, and they’re disciplined.

But more than that, it’s the mentality that sets Minnesota apart. Led by Anthony Edwards — who, by the way, is going to be foaming at the mouth knowing Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is (likely) getting the MVP — the Wolves will be playing with chips on their shoulders.

Not to mention the lack of respect this Minnesota team is getting due to their inferior opponents they’ve faced so far in the NBA Playoffs. But, at the end of the day, you can only play who’s in front of you, and while the Thunder appear to be the better team, I can’t help but feel like ANT has this “It Factor” about him and it’s going to rub off on his teammates as we tip-off this heavyweight series tonight.
