Eagles’ top remaining need might surprise you
The Eagles are sitting pretty after a Super Bowl-winning season, but that doesn’t mean the work is done.
CBS Sports’ Cody Benjamin recently zeroed in on the team’s biggest remaining need for 2025, and to no one’s surprise, it’s all about the big guys up front — the defensive line.
Eagles Defensive Line Takes Center Stage
Look, the Eagles might have a stacked roster, but even a defending champ has holes to patch up. CBS Sports isn’t wrong in pointing to the defensive line as the area that could use a little more love. Losing Milton Williams to the Patriots on a four-year, $104 million deal was a gut punch. Williams might not have been a household name, but his departure leaves a noticeable void.
Jalen Carter is still the anchor, and there’s no questioning the kid’s talent. But the Eagles need more than just Carter to keep Vic Fangio’s defense firing on all cylinders. The edge group looks a bit different this year, too, so the pressure’s on for guys like Jordan Davis to step up and fill the gaps. CBS Sports hit the nail on the head there.
Eagles Banking on Next Men Up
If there’s one thing we know about Howie Roseman and this front office, it’s that they’re always cooking something up. But for now, it’s up to guys like Moro Ojomo, Nolan Smith Jr., and even Jihaad Campbell to take that next step. They don’t all play the same role as Williams did, but they’ll all have to chip in to keep that pass rush nasty.

It’s the same story every offseason — no team is perfect. The Eagles just proved that they can handle a few dents in the armor and still come out on top. But if they’re going to repeat in 2025, it’ll be because the defensive line answered the bell.
