Former Eagles Super Bowl champion retires after ten NFL seasons

Veteran cornerback Ronald Darby is officially stepping away from the NFL, informing the Houston Texans of his decision to retire, according to ESPN.

Darby, 31, signed a one-year contract with the Texans in March. His retirement marks the second high-profile departure from the league this week, following Detroit Lions center Frank Ragnow’s announcement earlier today.

Darby played for six teams across his NFL career: the Buffalo Bills, Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Commanders, Denver Broncos, Baltimore Ravens, and most recently, the Jacksonville Jaguars.

He was a key contributor on the Eagles’ 2017 Super Bowl team, famously known for his block (or sacrifice) on Patrick Robinson’s pick-six against Minnesota in the NFC Championship Game.

Originally a second-round draft pick in 2015 out of Florida State, Darby finishes his career with 447 total tackles, 106 passes defensed, and eight interceptions across 118 games.
