Phillies fans going viral for P00P t-shirts is the best part of playing baseball in Pittsburgh this weekend

You knew Phillies fans weren’t gonna let this one die quietly. On Saturday at PNC Park, a couple of Phillies fans went viral for rocking maybe the best T-shirts of the season — a tribute to the infamous “P00P” score bug from NBC Sports Philadelphia.

For the uninitiated: For years, every time the Phils played the Pirates and the score lined up just right — think 0-0, 1-0, 0-1 — NBC Sports Philly’s old graphics package would spit out a gem. The scorebug would read “P 00 P” — or, naturally, P00P. And every time it showed up, the internet had a field day.

Sadly, the network gave its graphics a facelift this year and the beloved bug was retired. But Philly fans? We don’t forget. And we definitely don’t waste a good inside joke.

So credit to this couple who strolled into enemy territory rocking shirts with the legendary P00P scorebug front and center.

Even Tom McCarthy gave them a shoutout on the broadcast when the game hit 1-1:

“Well, we don’t have ‘poop,’ but we have ‘piip.’ The long middle P-I-I-P.”

Look, the Phils are in a rough stretch right now. Bryce Harper’s on the IL. The offense can’t buy a clutch hit. They’ve lost eight of nine. You don’t need a P00P score bug to realize that the product on your television is absolute shit, ya know?

Another frustrating loss for the Phillies

At the very least, when the on-field product stinks (pun intended), the fans are still showing up and keeping things entertaining.
