CJ Gardner-Johnson continues to bash Eagles in recent interview with Texans insider

CJ Gardner-Johnson never misses a chance to take a shot at his former team. It feels like every few weeks, he pops up to throw shade at the Eagles — for whatever reason.

Last week, Vic Fangio described CJ Gardner-Johnson’s departure as a “salary cap decision,” and unsurprisingly, that didn’t sit well with CJ. He took to Instagram to air his frustration, making it clear he wasn’t happy with Fangio’s explanation.

Fast forward to this weekend, when Texans insider Aaron Wilson sat down with Gardner-Johnson for an interview. Naturally, his exit from the Eagles came up — and CJGJ didn’t hold back when asked about Fangio’s comments.

CJ Gardner-Johnson: “It wasn’t about the money”

“It wasn’t about money,” CJGJ said. “If it was about money, everybody would have been gone. How can I say this the most respectful way? Saquon deserved it. Zack deserved it, but the reasons behind it, the fans don’t deserve that reason. It’s deeper than that. The fans don’t deserve, ‘It’s about the money,’ because if that was the case, my contract was safe.”

Look, I like Gardner-Johnson. Always have. I just don’t understand why he’s doing a heel turn like this. When the Eagles initially traded him, CJ was fine with it, barely had one bad thing to say about the team or how they handled his departure.

He even says point-blank in that clip — it was essentially a money decision. So why are you getting all bent out of shape about it now?

There’s nothing deeper to it, no matter how many times CJGJ tries to claim otherwise. He’s a solid player and always seems to be around the football. But the reality is, he plays a devalued position. And by his own admission, the team has to plan for a future where they’re shelling out major money to guys like Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis, and Zack Baun.

So all this revisionist history CJ Gardner-Johnson is trying to push? It’s nonsense. The Eagles couldn’t afford him and needed to prioritize cap space for their young core. It really is that simple.

Just shut the fuck up already, man. You’re making yourself look stupid.
