WATCH: Phillies fan takes Max Kepler home run directly to the face
Max Kepler gave the Phillies a 2-1 lead against the Cubs in the second inning with a home run, and Phillies fans were overjoyed… except for one. Unfortunately for her, that home run ball ricocheted directly off her head.
This unlucky Phillies fan took that shot like a champ:

Honestly, I blame the guy next to her who completely whiffed on the catch. It would have been much more embarrassing if he had a glove, but that ball was coming straight down and should’ve been an easy two-handed grab.
Instead, he totally blew it, and it wound up hitting a fellow Phillies fan in the head. Brutal look if you ask me.
At the same time, though, it looks like she offered up a pretty lackluster effort when it came to covering her head. I don’t want to victim blame in this scenario, but you’ve gotta look alive in the front few rows of any sporting event.
No matter how you slice it, I hope this woman is okay. I don’t think the impact was direct enough to do any serious damage, but you never know.
