Eagles Named Top Betting Favorite to Trade for T.J. Watt…
The second T.J. Watt skipped out on Steelers minicamp, the rumor mill caught fire — and here we are. The Philadelphia Eagles, fresh off bulldozing the Chiefs in the Super Bowl, are now the betting favorite to pull off a mega-trade for Watt, according to BetOnline.
Let me be clear: I love chaos. I love watching the internet meltdown when a superstar like Watt is hypothetically thrown into a midnight green jersey. But let’s pump the brakes for a second and talk about what this actually means.
The TJ Watt update that sent the internet in a tailspin
The #Steelers All-Pro edge TJ Watt, seeking a new deal, is not in attendance at mandatory minicamp, per me and @MikeGarafolo. No progress on a long-term deal. pic.twitter.com/YhF1wEtwQW

If — and it’s a massive if — the Steelers part ways with Watt, here’s how the odds stack up:
- Eagles: +300
- 49ers: +400
- Lions: +600
- Patriots: +700
Is Philly really the frontrunner? Sure, on paper. But this feels more like the books playing into the “Howie Roseman masterclass” fantasy Eagles Twitter runs with every time a big name becomes available.
But, there’s certainly a reason Eagles fans do that. I mean Howie Roseman is a shark in the water at all times.
Watt Would Be a Dream… But at What Cost?
No one’s denying the talent. T.J. Watt is a game-wrecking freak of nature — arguably the best edge rusher in football. And with Bryce Huff officially gone, the Eagles absolutely have a glaring hole off the edge.
But here’s the catch:
You’re not just trading picks.
You’re not just trading cap space.
You’re trading for a full-blown contract standoff.
Watt is due for a monster extension. Think $40M+ per year after Myles Garrett reset the market in Cleveland. Any team sniffing around Watt has to be ready to open the vault — and that’s not exactly Howie’s favorite game to play when he’s got young stars of his own to lock up.
And it’s worth stating that even if the Birds don’t make a major splash move like this one, they should be universally regarded as the best team in the NFL. They absolutely dog walked the Chiefs in the Super Bowl and have earned the right to be labeled the best in the world until proven otherwise.
Look — I’m the first one to say “swing for the fences.” But let’s not forget what this team is actually building behind the scenes.
The Eagles are loaded with 2026 draft capital, they’ve got the cap room, and Howie’s not afraid to make headlines. But everything they’ve done this offseason suggests they’re laser-focused on locking up their young core the second the CBA allows it.
Jalen Carter is about to break the damn bank.
Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean are future cornerstones.
Trading for Watt means putting all of that in flux — just for a short-term sugar rush.
Is it worth it for the Eagles?
Well, if Howie pulls this off and lands T.J. Watt for something like a first and a conditional pick, I’ll be the first one to get the Photoshop department cooking.
But don’t let the Vegas odds fool you. This is less about reality and more about keeping fans fired up while Watt plays hardball with the Steelers. If Pittsburgh’s even halfway serious about competing this year, they’re not trading away the best defensive player in the league.
Still — the fact that the Eagles are even in the mix shows how much weight the Super Bowl carries. Philly is a destination. That matters.
