Jalen Hurts Pete Prisco CBS NFL Top 100

Saquon Barkley gets crowned, Jalen Hurts gets clowned in CBS Sports Top 100

If you were looking for logic in CBS Sports’ annual Top 100 NFL Players list, keep looking. Pete The Rat Prisco is back with his yearly rankings, and while there’s plenty for Eagles fans to be proud of, there’s one glaring insult that stands out with Jalen Hurts coming in at very disrespectful No. 52.

Let’s start with the good. Saquon Barkley debuted at No. 3 overall. Third best player in the entire league after rushing for 2,005 yards and leading the Eagles to a Super Bowl win checks out. No issues there at all.

According to Pete The Rat Prisco, Barkley went from unranked to MVP candidate in one season. That’s true. Saquon Barkley was a monster last season. So far so good.

Same goes for Lane Johnson, the highest-ranked tackle at No. 12, and Jordan Mailata right behind him at 13. Finally, some national respect for the best tackle duo in football.

Jalen Carter checked in at No. 17 ahead of Chris Jones and Dexter Lawrence which tells you Prisco at least watched the NFC playoffs.

Even Zack Baun got love at No. 40, a massive leap from being unknown to most casual fans a year ago to being named one of the game’s top linebackers. Credit where it’s due.

Jalen Hurts. Ranked 52nd.

Yep. Jalen Hurts. The same guy who just won Super Bowl MVP. The same guy who continues to be the heartbeat of the locker room. The guy who delivered a championship with ice in his veins and legs that don’t quit.

Jalen Hurts was ranked lower than Jayden Daniels. The Philadelphia Eagles embarrassed the Washington Commanders in the NFC Championship. Hurts was also ranked lower than Justin Herbert and lower than Broncos center Quinn Meinerz.

That’s not just disrespect — it’s delusional.

Justin Herbert is 30-32 in his career. Jayden Daniels just finished an impressive rookie year but being ranked above Jalen Hurts is blatantly wrong and honestly, I don’t know how the majority of these players are ranked above Hurts after he literally put Philly on his back in every meaningful game that mattered last season.

At some point, you just have to laugh, I guess…

Look, we get it. Lists like this are designed to stir debate. Pete Prisco has been doing this forever and knows exactly how to push buttons. Nothing hits harder than the Philadelphia Eagles Engagement Farm on social media.

I just think it’s all bullshit because Jalen Hurts didn’t just prove he belongs in the conversation with Mahomes, Allen, Lamar, and Burrow, he outperformed them when it mattered most.

Meanwhile, the rest of the list rounded out pretty reasonably.

DeVonta Smith got snubbed. Not including him on any Top 100 list is media malpractice. As for the rest of our guys, A.J. Brown at 31 felt a little light, especially behind guys like Tyreek Hill and CeeDee Lamb. Quinyon Mitchell at 69 was a nice nod after his impressive rookie season, and Landon Dickerson (No. 72) and Cooper DeJean (No. 85) both found spots too.

But the fact remains that Jalen Hurts led the Eagles to a title and got the equivalent of a “yeah, he’s good but…” from Pete The Rat Prisco.

Saquon got a throne. Hurts got a folding chair. Can’t happen.

It’s fine. Rankings don’t win games. Hurts will let his play speak, like he always does.
