THE FIGHTINS blitz the Mets with a 6-run seventh inning, snatch first place in the NL East
The Fightins kicked the door down in the seventh inning Friday night and walked right into first place in the National League East.
After sitting quietly for six innings, the offense exploded with a six-run frame to blow past the Mets, 10-2, in front of a fired-up crowd at Citizens Bank Park. Bryson Stott delivered the big blow with a bases-clearing triple and The Fightins never looked back.
This one was a mess for New York. The Mets, who are now riding a seven-game losing streak, watched their bullpen implode like a folding chair in a Wawa parking lot.
Reed Garrett entered a 2-2 game in the seventh and didn’t get a single out. It was incredible to watch, honestly.
Brandon Marsh and Trea Turner ripped back-to-back doubles, Alec Bohm gave the Phils the lead with an RBI single, and by the time Stott launched his rocket off the left-center wall, it was 8-2 and the Mets had been cooked, fried, and plated.

A Huge Moment for Bryson Stott
The crowd erupted when Bryson Stott roped his triple to the wall, but what made it better was J.T. Realmuto barely beating the tag on the final run.
The play at the plate looked like synchronized swimming — Realmuto slid in a millisecond behind Castellanos, both touching the plate as the Mets fumbled around in the outfield.

Don’t Forget Otto Kemp
Bryce Harper’s still out, but Otto Kemp played like a Gold Glove first baseman.
He made four different standout plays at first, including a diving snag of a Juan Soto liner to end the seventh inning and a couple of great grabs in foul territory. The kid doesn’t have Harper’s bat, but defensively he showed up in a big way.

THE FIGHTINS: Notes and Numbers
- Zack Wheeler was strong but only got through five innings, exiting with a scoreless line after running up his pitch count.
- Taijuan Walker gave up back-to-back bombs in the sixth to Pete Alonso and Jeff McNeil, but the Phillies’ bullpen — led by Tanner Banks — slammed the door from there.
- Nick Castellanos stayed hot with a homer and an RBI single in the seventh.
Next Up for The Fightins:
The Phillies send young stud Mick Abel (2-0, 2.21 ERA) to the mound Saturday night against the Mets’ Griffin Canning (6-3, 3.80 ERA).

If Abel keeps dealing and the bats stay awake, Philly might just sweep their way into a little mid-June momentum.
