NHL Draft: Flyers Trade up for Jack Nesbitt
Danny Brière wasn’t messing around on NHL Draft night. After taking Porter Martone at No. 6—, the Flyers around and made a bold move, trading the 22nd and 31st picks to jump up to No. 12 and select 6-foot-5 center Jack Nesbitt.

The pick has people talking—for better or worse.
Jack Nesbitt wasn’t projected to go this high. Some draft boards had him in the 40s or 50s. He’s raw, no question, and will likely be the type of player who might not make an impact tomorrow, but a couple years from now could be smashing guys into the boards and anchoring your third line.

This is two big bodies in one round. Martone is 6’3”. Nesbitt is 6’5”. Neither guy is small or soft. It feels like a statement from Brière and company. Even if the skill isn’t fully there yet, the Flyers are making damn sure nobody’s pushing them around.
