WATCH: Joel Embiid playing basketball with his son Arthur preparing to Complete The Process in 2039

Even while rehabbing from yet another knee surgery, Joel Embiid gave Sixers fans a reason to smile this week and more importantly, a reason to still believe.

This is the second time this week that we have gotten a Joel Embiid sighting. The first was two tweets about the Phillies the other night, which were promptly deleted.

Joel Embiid tweeted and deleted a few things last night after the Giants ridiculous walk off against the Phillies

Now, we have a moment that went viral across the internet, with Embiid passing the torch, or at the very least, a soccer ball, to his son Arthur as they worked out free throws together on a mini hoop.

Joel Embiid prepares his son for The Process

Straight from soccer practice to the basketball court? Now we’re talking. We mentioned it earlier this week but it appears that our assumption is true. Joel Embiid is sneaky locked in for the 2025 NBA season.

Of course, I would much rather have Embiid running pick-and-rolls instead of having his son shoot from the charity stripe with a soccer ball that’s twice the size of his head on a hoop that surprisingly looks like it came from Walmart, but it’s still something.

Not to mention, Arthur was out there draining shots like he already has his father’s career 83% free throw percentage. It was also a subtle reminder that made me shed a few tears watching our guy with his son. For the real ones, watching Joel tower over his son should hit you right in the feels. The Embiid family is basically Philadelphia’s Royal Family after all.

Anyways, this is a good reminder for everyone that through all of the noise, the injuries, the missed playoffs, and the media criticism, Joel Embiid is still here. More importantly, he’s focused on what comes next, not just for him, but for his family. While the wait might suck, I am personally happy to see Arthur taking the next steps to Complete The Process in the year 2039. Whatever it takes to get us to the promised land.

Embiid’s Legacy Runs Deeper Than Just Basketball

It’s easy to forget how much Joel’s been through. He came to this country at 16 chasing a dream. He lost his brother in a car accident before he even made his NBA debut. He dedicated his career to that loss, and now, he’s building something new in honor of it through his son, Arthur.

There’s always been something poetic about Embiid. From the injuries and heartbreak to the pure dominance and charisma, he’s never just been a basketball player. He’s been our guy and the man that has been tasked to carry a broken franchise on his back and still finding ways to smile through the storm.

As Sam Hinkie beautifully wrote in his manifesto:

To do this requires you to divorce process from outcome. You can be right for the wrong reasons. In our business, you’re often lionized for it. You can be wrong for the right reasons. This may well prove to be Joel Embiid. There is signal everywhere that Joel is unique, from the practice gyms in Lawrence, Kansas to Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania to Doha, Qatar where he does something awe inspiring far too regularly. We remain hopeful (and optimistic) about his long-term playing career, but we don’t yet know exactly how it will turn out. The decision to draft Joel third, though, still looks to me to be the correct one in hindsight given the underlying reasoning. But to call something that could be wrong (“failed draft pick”) right (“good decision”) makes all of our heads hurt, mine included

So while a large portion of this fanbase has grown increasingly frustrated with the franchise as a whole or Embiid. Just remember how much we have all been through together. And no one feels that more than the man himself.

Joel The Process Embiid.

One More Run, Then Maybe It’s Arthur’s Turn

Embiid is under contract through 2029. Whether he’s still in Philly by then or not, we know one thing: he’s not done yet. And I can feel the goosebumps in my arms as I type that and a chill running down my spine. I’m personally ready to go to war yet again with Joel Embiid.

Sure, he’s coming off the most frustrating stretch of his career, playing just 19 games this past season. But if that clip of him coaching up his son tells us anything, it’s that Joel Embiid still cares. He still loves the game. And somewhere deep down, he still wants to bring a ring to Broad Street.

And if it doesn’t happen? Well…maybe Arthur will take it from here. And honestly, this father-son dynamic is one I will be keeping close attention to and one we all should be rooting for. Unlike the Lebron-Bronny James one that has sent a massive uproar through the sports world.

As always it’s Trust The Process. Which by the way, The Process never really ends until we’re all together on Broad Street. Until then, it just evolves.
