Finally: Lane Johnson joins Saquon Barkley in Madden’s 99 Club
It finally happened. Madden did something right. Lane Johnson has officially been added to the elusive “99 Club” for Madden 26, a well-earned nod for one of the most dominant offensive linemen in NFL history.
Lane Johnson joins teammate Saquon Barkley, the cover star of this year’s game, along with Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen, Justin Jefferson, Ja’Marr Chase, and Myles Garrett.
Obviously when you read those names, there’s one outlier and it’s the offensive lineman but that doesn’t even matter considering who it is. Lane Johnson is a 35-year-old brick wall, who has been quietly erasing edge rushers for over a decade. As we all know here in Philadelphia, there’s no fanfare or fluff that comes with relentless dominance in the trenches.

The Rarest of Honors
Johnson becomes just the fourth Eagle ever to be rated 99 in Madden, joining Brian Dawkins (Madden 04), David Akers (Madden 06) and now Saquon Barkley.
Offensive linemen never get this kind of shine. Only Trent Williams, Walter Jones, and Jonathan Ogden have ever cracked the 99 barrier before Johnson.
Lane Johnson deserves it.
He’s been First Team All-Pro twice, Second Team three more times, and has stonewalled the best pass rushers in the league year after year, all while playing through enough injuries to qualify for sainthood.
Not Flashy, Just Better
Lane Johnson’s greatness doesn’t trend. He doesn’t do backflips in warmups or have a flashy nickname. He just beats you, play after play, season after season. The average NFL fan will never notice. But the ones who know… they know.
Saquon Barkley Called It
Back when Barkley was revealed as the Madden 26 cover athlete, the Eagles dropped a hype video showing him getting his 99 chain. In the follow-up video below, Barkley personally delivered the 99 chain to Lane and in typical lineman fashion, Johnson thought it was a watch.
During that video, Saquon said Lane should be next.
Shoutout Lane Johnson, the protector of quarterbacks, nightmare of edge rushers, and now, a certified 99 in Madden. Long overdue. Damn well earned.
