Pope Leo XIV confirms that he’s not a Philly sports fan, casually dismisses a gifted Eagles Super Bowl LIX hat
We finally have confirmation that Pope Leo XIV is not one of us. Pope Leo XIV may be a man of God but a man of Philadelphia? Absolutely not.
The Pope was gifted an Eagles hat recently by “his excellency” Nelson Jesus Pérez, who serves as Metropolitan Archbishop of Philadelphia. It was a beautiful gesture, a chance to bless the Birds and the city and a perfect opportunity to end the debate on whether or not he’s a Philly sports fan.
Instead, Pope Leo XIV handed it off like it was some type of cursed biblical object. Check the video. Blink and you’ll miss the exchange. The Pope wanted nothing to do with it and I’m honestly disgusted.
Pope Leo XIV gifted a hat of the Super Bowl Champions Philadelphia Eagles, quickly hands it off like it was a cursed relic
This wasn’t a light-hearted moment. This was a statement.
And not a good one from Pope Leo XIV, unfortunately.
This is the same Pope Leo XIV that has previously tossed on a White Sox hat like he was ready to suit up for the 58-win poverty franchise. An Eagles hat however, was just too much for him to acknowledge.
Apparently that South Side loyalty runs deep. The man reps Chicago like it’s the Promised Land and treats Philly like it’s Nineveh.
God willing, the city of Philadelphia tried to claim him. We pointed to his time at Villanova. We said, “He gets it. He went to Wawa. He probably cried when Foles caught that touchdown.”
Forgive us father, because we have sinned.
Turns out Pope Leo XIV just used our city for its theology degree and now treats a sacred Eagles Super Bowl cap like it was forbidden fruit from the Garden of Eden.
According to reports, Pope Leo “rejoiced” when the Eagles won the Super Bowl. Cool. You know who else rejoiced? Literally everyone on Broad Street that night, and most of them were shirtless and climbing traffic lights.
After what we witnessed in the video above, we now need a hell of a lot more than a quiet clap and a whispered “amen” to let you back in the club.
“He was very happy when the Eagles won the Super Bowl. He rejoiced with those of us from Philly,” Augustinian Father Joe Farrell said.
Farrell said he did not hear the Holy Father say “Go Birds” at any point during the Super Bowl.
However, it’s clear Pope Leo reps the Windy City first and foremost.
So much for this article…
Pope Leo XIV ‘rejoiced’ after Eagles dominated Chiefs in Super Bowl 59
Not even a single “Go Birds”? Not once? During the greatest moment in Philly sports history? If you can’t fake one for the city took you in during the most pivotal years of your life, then you don’t deserve our loyalty.
At the end of the day, it’s fine. We don’t need every religious figure on our side. If anything, it just further supports that the only religious figure that should be recognized within city limits is Jalen Hurts.
Ah… and the next time someone tries to argue that Villanova counts as a Philly school, remind them that even the Pope won’t say Go Birds.
