Joel Embiid spotted at Citizens Bank Park for Phillies game on Saturday
I feel like we’ve traveled back in time to the days where Joel Embiid was injured when he first arrived to Philly. Back then, photos and videos used to pop up on social media of Embiid throughout the city. The excitement from fans just to see Embiid, regardless of whether or not he was on the basketball court, was through the roof.

Nowadays, we’re going through something similar with Joel Embiid. While we all know what he’s capable of on the basketball court when he’s healthy, that simply hasn’t been the case.
Last year was a disaster for the Sixers and right now, we still only have vague updates about Embiid’s health and no clear timeline on whether or not he will be ready for training camp in the coming months.
We’re stuck with random photos and videos of Embiid yet again. Mix in a feature article with ESPN about all the struggles Embiid has endured since being drafted by the 76ers and the uncertainty surrounding his health and happiness is glaring.

That being said, Joel Embiid, rehabbing from his second knee surgery in 14 months, did look relaxed and in good spirits over the weekend at Citizens Bank Park. Embiid has always been a regular at Phillies games over the years, and now that we’re officially in the Dog Days, it looks like he’s ready to lock in down the stretch.
The Sixers, meanwhile, are counting on Embiid to be fully ready when training camp tips off this fall. After being limited to just 19 games last season thanks to that nagging left knee, he’s taking the cautious route this offseason.
The hope, as always, is for a healthy, dominant Embiid in October, ready to chase another MVP and maybe, just maybe, that elusive run to the NBA Finals.
For now, Joel Embiid was just another Philly fan enjoying a summer night at the ballpark. No harm in that, of course.
