Phillies fans booed Max Lazar after he got the call in the 9th inning instead of Jhoan Duran
Rob Thomson and company called on Max Lazar to seal the deal out the bullpen for the Phillies against the Baltimore Orioles last night at Citizens Bank Park.
Phillies fans weren’t happy about it. Jhoan Duran had been warming up but after a Brandon Marsh home run that extended the Phillies lead to 5-0, it was a non-save situation and there was absolutely zero reason to send the Durantula to the mound.
Marsh hits a HR, Phillies send Max Lazar to the mound over Jhoan Duran
Obviously, there was no reason to send Jhoan Duran out to the mound last night. Taijaun Walker pitched six strong innings, allowing four hits and zero walks while striking out four. Then came Orion Kerkering with a two strikeout inning, followed by Strahm who did the same.
Thanks to the Marsh home run, Max Lazar got the call for a non-save situation in the ninth inning. Boos aside, Lazar tossed one-hit, zero run, two strikeout inning of his own to seal a 5-0 win for the Phillies over the Orioles.Â

I’m sure Lazar is self-aware enough to know why he head boos…lol
