Eagles announce official captains for 2025
The Philadelphia Eagles officially announced their captains for 2025. The list features some familiar faces and some new ones, and one of them is making history with his captaincy.

Here is the complete list:
- Saquon Barkley (1st season as captain with Philadelphia, 6th overall in NFL)
- Zack Baun (1st season)
- Reed Blankenship (1st season)
- A.J. Brown (3rd season)
- Jake Elliott (4th season)
- Jalen Hurts (5th season)
- Lane Johnson (4th season)
- Jordan Mailata (2nd season)
Jalen Hurts is in his fifth season as captain, and thus will be the first quarterback in franchise history to wear the gold C patch. Yet another accolade for a guy who is, in my opinion, already a franchise legend.
Saquon Barkley earned his C with a historic season in 2024. Also, you don’t pay a man that kind of money and not slap a patch on his chest, that’s unheard of.
First time captains Zack Baun and Reed Blankenship are not surprising to me at all. Baun is the best linebacker in football, and Reed is a vocal leader on this team.
Plus, with Reed in a contract year, I think this means an extension is looming. One half of the Exciting Whites is deserving of a payday, and this move makes me think that Howie Roseman is inclined to give it to him.
Of course, the other usual suspects round out the list. I think this is a perfect set up heading into 2025.
