Jordan Mailata gives 3 word response when asked about the Micah Parsons trade
Micah Parsons is headed to Green Bay, and while Cowboys fans are spiraling, Eagles fans? We’re good. Jordan Mailata, always the consummate professional, gave his thoughts to ESPN’s Todd Archer, calling the move a “sigh of relief.”
Jordan Mailata added that for the last few years, the Eagles have always had to come up with a game plan for Parsons because he’s a “game wrecker.”
Jordan Mailata Comments on Micah Parsons:
“It’s just kind of crazy,” Mailata continued. “The last four or five years we’ve played the Dallas Cowboys, we’ve come up with a game plan [for him] because Micah’s a game wrecker. … However, that is a talented D-line and a talented defense, so you have to treat them with the same respect with or without Micah Parsons.”
Honestly, I look at that like Jordan Mailata being the pro he is. Showing respect, handling the question with class, and keeping it businesslike. That’s because Micah Parsons never really dominated the Eagles in the first place.
The Micah Parsons numbers tell the story.
In seven career games against Philly, Dallas went just 3-4. Parsons has five sacks total against the Eagles, less than half of what he’s racked up against Washington (10.5), and only eight QB hits. Compare that to 13 QB hits against the Giants and 15 against the Commanders and there’s not much to talk about.
Micah Parsons has made a living bullying weaker offensive lines
Against Jeff Stoutland University? Not so much.
This isn’t to say Micah Parsons isn’t one of the best defensive players in football because he absolutely is, especially with Aaron Donald out of the picture.
His impact against Philly has been muted because of the Eagles’ elite offensive line. Jordan Mailata and Lane Johnson have consistently handled him, and it’s one of the biggest reasons why the rivalry has tilted in the Birds’ favor lately.
