Eagles Snap Counts: Jordan Davis steps up while Jalen Carter checks out early

Week 1 is in the books, the Eagles are 1-0, and the snap counts are here to tell the story of who actually made an impact in the win over Dallas.

Jordan Davis finally looked like the player the front office drafted him to be, while Jalen Carter made sure his name was in the headlines for all the wrong reasons.

Eagles Offense: Hurts steady, Brown invisible, Dotson efficient

Jalen Hurts and four of five starting linemen played every snap, which is usually the formula for a win. AJ Brown somehow didn’t get a target until the final two minutes. One catch, one yard. That’s not going to cut it, obviously.

DeVonta Smith was the most reliable receiver, catching all three of his targets, while Jahan Dotson made the most of limited work with three grabs for 59 yards.

Hurts to Dotson for 51 yards:

Dallas Goedert was Mr. Consistency, hauling in all seven of his looks, but never for more than nine yards. Saquon Barkley saw plenty of snaps with rookie Will Shipley banged up, though his 60 yards rushing didn’t blow anyone away.

The offensive line took a hit when Landon Dickerson left with a back injury, forcing Brett Toth into action at left guard. Depth will be tested quickly if Dickerson misses time.

Eagles Defense: Jordan Davis makes the leap

Cooper DeJean played every single defensive snap for the first time in his career. He and Zack Baun (team-high tackles) were everywhere. Rookie Jihaad Campbell impressed in his first start, while Andrew Mukuba is already eating into Sydney Brown’s time at safety.

Jihaad Campbell absolutely WENT OFF in his NFL Debut.

With Carter ejected, Jordan Davis had to step up, and he responded with a career-high 53 snaps in regulation, finishing third on the team in tackles. He finally looked like a guy who can anchor the middle when it matters.

Nolan Smith led the way on the edge, Jalyx Hunt slid in as EDGE2, and Byron Young contributed inside with a forced fumble. Adoree’ Jackson got beat a few times and briefly left with a concussion check, while Jakorian Bennett saw the field for a hot minute, even breaking up a pass that didn’t count thanks to a penalty.

Eagles Special Teams and Inactives

Kelee Ringo was back to gunner duty, Jeremiah Trotter Jr. is officially a special teamer until further notice, and Marcus Epps made his return in the kicking game after a practice squad elevation.

Tanner McKee is still sidelined with a busted thumb, Azeez Ojulari and Ogbo Okoronkwo were healthy scratches, and Ty Robinson is buried at DT6. None of that mattered once Carter spit his way straight to the locker room.

The snap counts show exactly what you’d expect

The Eagles leaned on their stars, got just enough from the role players, and Jordan Davis proved he can carry a bigger load. Carter embarrassed himself, Brown disappeared, and yet the Birds still beat Dallas. That’s all that matters.
