Phillies hold their breath as Trea Turner leaves game with hamstring injury
Trea Turner is the latest Phillies star to hit the injury scare list.
In the seventh inning of Sunday’s game in Miami, Turner reached base on a throwing error by Otto Lopez, but immediately pulled himself out after awkwardly stepping on the bag. He went straight into the dugout and was replaced by Edmundo Sosa.

The team has since announced it’s a right hamstring strain, and Turner will be evaluated further. All signs point toward an IL stint, with the real concern now shifting to whether this lingers into October.

As of now, the Phillies are losing 5-3 in the eighth inning, and the vibe has shifted completely. Turner leaving mid-game is the kind of thing that can rattle a clubhouse, especially with the postseason less than a month away.
The Phillies came into today with a seven-game cushion in the NL East and a strong hold on a first-round bye, but Turner’s health is suddenly priority number one.
The bye could buy him extra recovery time, but a hamstring is nothing you want to mess with this late in the season. For now, Phillies fans are holding their breath and just hoping the injury isn’t as bad as it looked.
