SET FIRE TO THE KINGDOM: Everything you need to know about Eagles at Chiefs
It’s only Week 2 of the 2025 NFL season and we’re already getting a Super Bowl rematch. Jalen Hurts and the Eagles head back to Arrowhead to face Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs, just seven months after Philly handed them one of the most humiliating losses that The Kingdom has ever experienced.
FEBRUARY WAS LAST YEAR
While the Chiefs constantly talk about what happened to them earlier this year, the Eagles and the city of Philadelphia are focused on the next opportunity. The Birds set fire to The Kingdom in Super Bowl LIX and there’s no reason to discuss it any further than that.

EAGLES SHOULD FEEL CONFIDENT
Kansas City’s offense looks rough. The Week 1 loss to the Chargers was one of the ugliest Chiefs offensive performances since, well, the Super Bowl in February.
Mahomes can still do Houdini things, but look at what he’s working with:
- WRs: Hollywood Brown, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Tyquan Thornton. Be honest — how many teams would you take this trio over? None?
- RBs: Isaiah Pacheco and Kareem Hunt, who combined for 3.7 yards per carry last year and got just 10 carries in Week 1.
- O-line: A rookie LT (Josh Simmons) coming off a major knee injury, Kingsley Suamataia at LG, and Jawaan Taylor still racking up penalties at RT.
- Travis Kelce is still good, but not that guy anymore.
This is a below-average unit outside of Mahomes. Good luck.
BIRD BATH RATINGS 🦅💦
The Chiefs lost Travelle Wharton and Justin Reid in free agency, replacing them with Jerry Tillery and Jaden Hicks. Clear downgrades. Hicks got cooked twice for touchdowns against the Chargers so I would think Vic Fangio has to be licking his chops.
Mahomes’ sideline shenanigans are beyond annoying. We all know Patrick The Frog loves the “flop near the sideline, act like I got hit by a bazooka” routine or, he’ll cheap-shot you when you pull up.
Luckily, Vic Fangio flat-out called him a flopper this week and said his guys are prepared. If there’s a chance to light him up legally, I have no doubt that the Eagles defense will take it, which brings us to the Bird Bath Ratings.
The Eagles’ defensive line has the edge again.
Jalen Carter and the boys should have their way with a shaky Chiefs front that already allowed four pressures on Mahomes in Week 1.

SET FIRE TO THE KINGDOM
Mahomes and company are no longer invincible. The Eagles proved that on the biggest stage already. Mahomes will always keep KC dangerous, but the roster around him is weaker, the defense isn’t the same, and the Birds are flat-out better.
The Eagles set fire to The Kingdom once already. Here’s how to do it in Week 2.
- Get A.J. Brown involved early. Week 1 was too quiet for him. If he’s healthy, you feed him and make KC adjust.
- Use 11 personnel. Barkley is a monster, but heavy TE sets just invited Kansas City’s run stoppers onto the field in Week 1. The Birds’ offense hums when it spreads the field with three WRs.
- Don’t waste possessions. Arrowhead is loud, Mahomes always has one miracle drive in him, and you can’t give free opportunities.
