Eagles may hold the key to solving the Bengals’ Joe Burrow crisis
The Philadelphia Eagles may hold the key to fixing the Bengals’ Joe Burrow injury crisis — and his name is Tanner McKee.
On Monday, it was reported that Burrow will miss at least three months after sustaining a Grade 3 Turf Toe on Sunday. He’ll require surgery to fix the ligament damage, meaning he’s sidelined for the rest of the year.
Insert Tanner McKee, the Eagles electric backup QB was lights out in the preseason and has impressed every time he gets a chance to play. He’s the Birds top backup right now, but he could probably net a high draft pick if the Bengals came calling.
Would Cincy actually reach out the Eagles about McKee?
Honestly, I think the Bengals would be stupid to pull the trigger — I also think the Bengals are a poorly run organization. McKee is a potential long-term answer, not just a guy you throw in for a few months while your top-three quarterback recovers.
Kirk Cousins makes way more sense for them, but who knows, maybe they’ll watch some film and fall in love with the Mormon Missile. Could you really blame them?
I’d ask for a first up front if I were Howie, and honestly, I wouldn’t get rid of him unless Cincy was willing to play ball. Starting price is a first, anything after that is just a cherry on top.
The Bengals are already looking around for another option. We’ll just have to wait and see if their eyes lock onto McKee in the coming days.
