Tush Push Crackdown Begins: Officials move Chargers players back, change approach to Eagles’ signature play
The Tush Push crackdown has officially begun and we didn’t even have to wait until Week 3.
During the second leg of ESPN’s Monday Night double header, the Chargers (a team that voted to ban the Tush Push) lined up in the signature formation on their own goal line. Before they could even get set, the officials stepped in.
Officials are going to move players back before runing the Tush Push it seems
The refs are clearly telling Chargers players to move back a bit, fully behind the ball. Then it appears they say the same thing to the Raiders defensive lineman.
For the record, I have no issue with this. As an Eagles fan, I don’t want the be labeled as cheaters just because officials suck at their jobs. If this is what they have to do to ensure fair play, fine. Will it stop people from bitching about the play? No shot. Because people don’t actually care about the fairness of the game, they just hate that the Eagles have mastered it.
This will probably be a trend all season, so just be prepared for it. As I’ve said before, I don’t care what anyone says about the play. It’s here to stay, and now that the Eagles actually make money off it via their Dude Wipes sponsorship, banning it won’t be as easy as some think.
