Lane Johnson Injury Update: Neck Stinger, Week 4 Return Expected
The Eagles got a scare on Sunday when Lane Johnson left in the first quarter against the Rams with a neck injury. The team quickly listed him as questionable to return, and while he stayed on the sideline in uniform, he never re-entered the game.
Postgame, though, Johnson gave everyone a sigh of relief, telling Jeff McLane his injury was just a stinger and that he expects to be ready for Week 4.

That’s obviously massive news for the Birds. No secret that Lane Johnson is the cornerstone of the offensive line, and the offense clearly felt his absence.
Matt Pryor was thrown in at right tackle after Johnson went out, and the offense sputtered through four straight failed drives. Once Fred Johnson checked in after halftime, things stabilized, and the Eagles finally moved the ball again, breaking their scoring drought with Jalen Hurts leading the way.

Lane Johnson is irreplaceable. He’s still playing at a Pro Bowl level, even as he openly talks about only having a year or two left before retirement. Losing him long-term against elite pass rushers would be a nightmare scenario, especially with guys like Cam Jurgens and Landon Dickerson already battling through injuries this season.
For now, though, the Eagles dodged a bullet. Lane Johnson says he’ll be back next week, and with the way this offensive line sets the tone for the Eagles’ identity, that’s about the best possible update fans could ask for.
