Eagles release updated travel plans to Tampa in effort to beat the heat and the Buccaneers on Sunday

It’s no secret that the Eagles can’t buy a win when traveling down to Tampa Bay. Whether it’s the Bucs themselves, their own injuries, or the swamp-like Florida heat, things tend to go sideways whenever we’re dragged down to the Sunshine State.

On Sunday, it’s projected to feel like 103° on the field. I don’t know about you, but that’s not football weather, that’s “why do I even live here?” weather.

Unstead of letting the elements get in their heads, the Eagles are doing something different by departing early from Philly to get acclimated to the Tampa heat.

Eagles travel plans to Tampa Bay

I love it, honestly.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s hard to battle the sun but it’s always good to see the Birds making adjustments in order to be fully prepared for what lies ahead. Sirianni and company aren’t just showing up to Florida, complaining about the heat, and folding this time around. Our world champion organization is changing the script.

The Birds won’t let the heat, the travel, or the ghosts of past failures dictate the game. They are getting down there early, sweating it out, and getting a practice in before they try to bury the undefeated Buccaneers in their own house.

To make matters worse, Tampa’s getting healthier heading into Sunday.

Chris Godwin is back, Tristan Wirfs is back. This isn’t going to be a cakewalk. If the Eagles are serious about exorcising demons, there’s no better place to do it than in that Florida furnace. Time to finally get this Buccaneers monkey off our backs and bury these guys once and for all.

Scheduling Nonsense

I don’t claim to fully understand how the NFL schedule matrix works, but can someone explain to me why are the Eagles always playing the Bucs in Tampa in the early fall?

Five of the last seven meetings have been down there in the heat. The last time they came to Philly was 2021, and before that? 2015.

I hate penciling in an early-season trip to Tampa, and getting stuck with an always-meaningless Week 18 Giants game. Why can’t we flip it and make them come up here in December for once? Something sinister is afoot.

At the end of the day, heading down early is the right move, because whatever they’ve been doing hasn’t worked.
